IT for English Teachers

I run Teacher Training Courses throughout the year for Primary and Secondary English Language teachers, as well as CLIL teachers, in the beautiful villages of Shipton-Under-Wychwood and Burford in the heart of the Cotswolds, one of the most beautiful areas of countryside in England.

Enjoy the conference facilities of The Bay Tree in Burford, a wonderful hotel dating from the 16th century, or at The Shaven Crown, a wonderful hotel dating from 1483.

Have seminars on methodology and language, receive teaching materials you can use with your classes, create your own teaching materials with support and guidance, spend one day visiting a school and observing classes, and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds.

Visit beautiful villages, ancient houses, historic castles, and admire wonderful views. Visit nearby Oxford (20 minutes), Cheltenham (20 minutes), and Stratford-Upon-Avon (45 minutes).  Trains to London are just 76 minutes.

Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the village is around £50 per night, or you can choose to stay in a local hotel:
Accommodation in and around Shipton-Under-Wychwood

Alternatively, the course can run in Stratford-Upon-Avon, the historic and beautiful town of William Shakespeare.  The venue is The Shakespeare Hotel in the heart of the centre next to the school that Shakespeare attended.  Accommodation is £70 per night.  It is an ideal location for visiting the 5 houses connected to Shakespeare, exploring the beauty of the Warwickshire countryside, and seeing world-class performances of plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

This 5-day course is run in the beautiful village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood or Stratford-Upon-Avon.  There is a maximum of 12 course participants, and accommodation is in the hotel conference venue or in B&B in the surrounding area.  The course is designed for teachers of secondary school learners (aged 11-18) and adults.  One day is spent visiting local schools and observing lessons of your choice. The seminars (25 hours) include:

  • everything you need to know on how to use the computer for language teaching
  • all the basic computer language you need  for lesson preparation
  • guidance and practice using your computer to design lesson materials
  • the production of lesson materials for your learners
  • the use of website tools for learning inside and outside class
  • recommended website resources  for teaching your subject
  • the creation of free website learning areas for all your classes
  • how to use mobile phones for learning English
  • practice using your computer to mark written work and provide feedback

As the course will involve working with online materials in order to adapt them for lessons with your learners, it is recommended that you bring your laptop with you so that you can access and work on materials in the practical workshop sessions.  If you are unable to bring a laptop with you, alternative arrangements can be made for you.  The course venue will provide you with wifi access to the internet.

There is an evening social programme of films/theatre and a selection of wonderful places to eat.

By the end of this highly practical course, you will go away with everything you need to know about using your computer and mobile phones for your teaching purposes as well as materials you have worked on and produced for your classes.
